Julius Rehabilitation & Integrative Veterinary Services, LLC is an ambulatory equine and house call small animal Holistic veterinary practice serving the Twin Cities Metro and Western Wisconsin based out of Hastings, MN, owned and operated by Dr. Shantel Julius, DVM, MS-TCVM, CCRP, CVA, CVSMT, fCoAC, CVTP, CVCH, CTCVMP, CTPEP, the only veterinarian offering house call services in Minnesota that is certified in ALL major areas of TCVM, rehab, and animal chiropractic: rehab, acupuncture, spinal manipulation, veterinary food therapy, veterinary Tui-na, and veterinary Chinese herbals, as well as holding a Master's of Science in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.
JRIVS started out as an ambulatory equine practice, but over the years has developed into a house call practice for dogs and cats, focusing on in-home rehabilitation/physical therapy, acupuncture using Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, spinal manipulation (animal chiropractic), food therapy, herbal medicine, Tui-na, Chinese herbals, end of life and hospice care, while extending these services to our equine patients, as well as equine dentistry services. Dr. Shantel offers Wellness Care for her TCVM patients, which allows a one-health approach to their care by choosing preventive care for each individual vs a global care approach. This individualized care allows customized plans for each individual pet.
We work to serve you, which is why we are willing to travel to areas other veterinarians don't, and offer varying appointment times on weekdays and evenings. Weekends are available by special request and may accompany an additional fee.

Dr. Shantel is an extremely caring and compassionate person, and it is visible in her care of her veterinary patients! Dr. Shantel's goal with every patient and client is to treat the patient as her own pet, and make sure the owner feels as though their voice was heard and understood.
Dr. Shantel grew up on a ranch in north-eastern South Dakota, where she developed her love of animals by working with the families variety of critters, including cattle, sheep, horses, dogs, cats, and chickens. Dr. Shantel attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology. She then continued her education by receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in St. Paul, MN. Dr. Shantel worked in small animal general practice for 4-1/2 years before switching avenues to small animal emergency. In 2016, after the devasting loss of Pyper to a reaction to a common NSAID, Dr. Shantel looked into offering alternative modalities to patients. This began her 7 year pursuit of furthering her education in Chinese Medicine, canine rehabilitation, and animal chiropractic (spinal manipulation). |

Dr. Shantel started JRIVS in 2012 to help provide affordable, high quality care for horses, however she has realized that this in-home/on-farm service shouldn't be available to just horses! Cats and dogs would like this type of service too!
In her time away from the job, Dr. Shantel participates in competitive canine agility with her mini schnauzers Rainey, Aurora, and Emry, and her standard schnauzer Zhara, trains canine nose work with all her dogs, participates in competitive running, enjoys horse back riding with her quarter horses JR, Rio, and Ace, and enjoys leisure time at home with her husband and pets, including three black kitties. Dr. Shantel has a special affinity for schnauzers in general, and heads a local schnauzer rescue.
Dr. Shantel looks forward to working with you and your equine and/or small animal companion, and putting them on the path to a better health and wellness!
