Designing a Balanced Food Therapy Diet Plan
Western medicine has relatively recently recognized the positive effect that dietary changes have on many behavior and skin conditions. However, TCVM has long recognized the importance of food therapy in the treatment and prevention of illness. Therefore, Dr. Shantel, who is a Certified Veterinary Food Therapist, may recommend the implementation of special food or the elimination of certain food that the animal is currently being fed based on the Traditional Chinese Food Energetics classification and TCVM diagnosis.
Dr. Shantel will develop a Food Therapy Plan based on your pets needs, breaking down the protein, carbohydrate, and vegetable percentages to match your pets needs. This Plan will be based on a raw meat diet or home-cooked diet. She will then recommend nutritional supplements that will compliment the Food Therapy Plan to provide a balanced diet full of anti-oxidants and natural anti-inflammatory agents. A Food Therapy Plan is included in all Acupuncture and TCVM consultations. If you would like it added to a rehabilitation or chiropractic exam there is a $125 additional fee. Dr. Shantel is a Certified Veterinary Food Therapist from Chi University of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine in Reddick, Florida. |
